Austin is among the top cities in the world for fashion, according to a new list.

The eighth annual ranking of the world’s top fashion capitals from Austin-based Global Language Monitor for the first time placed Austin on the list of 50 — at 40.

That put Austin just behind New Delhi but atop places such as Johannesburg, Abu Dhabi, Atlanta and Montreal. Austin’s fashion scene was described as eclectic, outlandish and even green.

In July, GQ magazine ranked Austin as one of the worst-dressed cities in America.
